On my way to work this morning at around 10:15 AM, I was outraged to find that the IGLESIA NAZARENA DE MAYWOOD located at 4756 Slauson Ave, in Maywood, CA. had Vote Tes on Prop 8 Signs displyaed outside. The Church is the Polling Place for Precint #:4200006A. This is clearly a violation of State Voting Law, when I contacted the County to report it, I was placed oh hold for over an hour, then asked to leave a message. I then contacted the City of Maywood, and was told there was nothing to do about this. What kind of Election is the City of Maywood trying to hold?

When I voted today, I had problems getting the puncher to work well enough to leave a mark on my ballot. I had to go through my ballot three times to makes sure, because each time I checked my votes, I found sections unmarked where I know I had voted. Finally, I just muscled the stupid puncher into the ballot, several times for each vote, just to make sure. I'm sure I looked like a frustrated voter, too! LOL

Anyway, I told one of the voting people about this and they said they would check it out. I mentioned my problem to the other voters there, too, just so they would make sure their votes 'show up'.

With that said, given the trouble I had and from what I understand about the rules - that any unmarked category automatically voids the entire ballot, I'm wondering if this problem is just localized or if it's nationwide. If other voting locations had the same problem as this one did, what's to say that this didn't impede a fair outcome for the election overall? I'm not trying to be a firebrand to cause trouble (as I well remember the 'chad' incident 8 years ago!), but if this is a problem, it needs looking into.
