How is it that the California constitution can be changed by a simple majority vote? What good is it to even have a constitution? Isn't the constitution to protect minorities from the tyranny of the majority? Let's throw out the constitution and just decide everything by a vote why don't we?

i just don't get it....why do we even vote for things that matter to us if a group doesn't like it, they take it up to the supreme court where it basically gets decided based on whatever the opinion of that judge is. (can i take go to court because Obama won? I didn't vote for him?? No you sit back, accept it and go on with life.) How many times have the majority of Californian's voted for (or against) something to have it reversed?? When did the wrong become the right?? When is it wrong to have an opinion and believe in something. am i not entitled to free speech just like the opposing side? i am an American, and i have a right not to agree, i have a right to stand up & defend my beliefs. this is not the America of my forefathers.....and they would be ashamed of the country they fought and died for.

try thinking calmly. This is just the first step. The Prop alters the constitution to deny the rights to law abiding Californians. It is not a law to protect the people of the state. It is right that the body, the State Supreme Court, that protects the state and it's people look at the proposition and make sure it does not violate civil rights. The majority rule does not always apply to the revoking of rights. There have been many times that the majority rule has been overturned as you pointed out. That is because they were not legally right. you wouldn't want to illegally deny the rights of others, would you?
