If Sentor Palin can't raise her teenage kid and her husband seems to be a little out of control (DUI). How can we expect her to run this nation if called upon to do so?

I don't think that because Palin can't conduct her family the "RIGHT" way doesn't mean she wont be a great president. I believe that every teenager will do what they want to do, they have their own wills to do whatever they think is right. Not every family can run as functional as the families in "Pleasantville" did. Her daughter made a choice that ended her youth, but from that she will learn from her mistakes and they're going to grow as a family. As for the husband he will do as he wills, that's a man's choice. We all make choices that are either positive or negative, but now they're wrong choice where put in the spot light and now the country thinks Palin is incompetent, which puts her skills and her background as a senator aside and the media wants her to choose between her family and winning the presidential campaigns. I believe she made a great choice to stand by her family and run to win this campaign and that shouldn't judge her for what kind of president she would be.

I don't see how a decision her 17 year old made makes her a bad parent. Obama was born to an 18 year old unwed mother who was pregnant at 17 and he is running for president. Palin's daughter isn't running for anything.

It's a non-issue.

I think the situation really points out how unrealistic most people are.

Here is a woman that has a 17 year old High School senior that's knocked up.

Until that girl turns 18 she is the responsibility of her parents. This shows the mindset and judgment of the parents and how they are willing to sacrifice their daughters future based on set of inherently flawed moral beliefs and not clear rational and pragmatic thinking.

Why would anyone want to send there girl off out in the world under those circumstances? (that would be: barefoot and pregnant, and forced to marry another 17 boy that has no job and little or no future).

Statistically the marriage is doomed and the child will ultimately suffer, and most likely be a burden on the state- if not damaged goods.

I completely agree. She refuses to pay for sex education in High School UNLESS its preaches abstinence. Abstinence apparently didn't work in her home. I agree teenagers will be teenagers but if you can't practice what you preach, don't preach it in my home or to my family. And does nobody care that she fired a safety commissioner because he wouldn't fire her EX brother-in-law? This is not the person I want to make decisions that affect my life or the life of my NOT pregnant teenage daughters.

This is so absurd! “She is the most popular” Julliani put it? Why wouldn’t she be popular she’s attractive smart, experienced oh and a male on female 8-1 ratio in Alaska. The speech sounded like a high school student counsel campaign. Without the any intention of future improvements. Instead McCain and Palin keep building each other up. This is the second appearance addressing the nation and it’s a re-cap of the first. Talking about the wonderful “Soccer MOM” that sells her self, family and soon to be the nation SHORT by running for VP of our NATION. It’s very clear that she loves her life and family so LET her BE! There are much more qualified candidates that truly Deserve this and have the time to do this VP position 100%.
It’s CLEAR Palin of Child is with Child of 5 she clearly needs to focus on her family first with the nations blessing. I SERIOUSLY doubt the country would suffer if she doesn't become VP. Their are much more qualified women/men with LESS to prove, less luggage, and more time to give. Our nations deserve a strong LEADER AND VP. Since we have accepted a candidate as McCain who’s respectfully lied 3quarters of his life we need a STRONG following with a highly qualified VP that doesn’t have choose between her family and work.
How dare the we shun Hillary Clinton when we are entertaining this circus to a to allow the "Alaskan Soccer MOM" become VP. Their are MANY other Americans that deserve who TRUELY DISERVE this position.

This is just ludicrous. She has no more control over a 17 year old than Mr. Bush does (or did) with his hell-raising-CIA-accompanied Bush Twins. To think that the man multiplied TWICE in one shot and still couldn't run the country is mind boggling.

OK, then you have to be DEMOCRATIC, right?

Pres. Bush's bad presidency then must be related to the fact that his daughters were discovered having issues with drinking (like father, like daughter)...Bad parent...bad president --hey, it fits!!!

Well, Clinton actually made good getting their kid to graduate from Stanford...

George Sr, well, he had Jeb and Georgie JR, we already know how the Sr. screwed that parenting task up!!

Reagan, (for those who believe homosexuality is wrong) then, if we follow this formula, he was awful, too!!!!

Well, I am sure we can go back into history significantly to find out President's on both sides whose kids either actually screwed up, or were believed to be screw ups at their parent's hand...Hmmmm, maybe there's something to this bad parent/bad pres stuff.......
